Peer support

Our ethos of ‘supporting you to support others’ underpins everything we do. We believe we all have something to share to help and support others in their development journeys.

As evolving organisations, any challenges faced are likely to have been faced by another. We encourage our Partners to share their skills and experience with others in a circular model that promotes the principles of giving and receiving.

We’ll work with you to discover what you could share and use these insights to connect you with another organisation for mutual benefit. This doesn’t need to be an onerous task or a labour intensive exercise, just a commitment to offer support at least once a year to keep the energy going and the kindness flowing.

What you can offer

We recognise every Partner we work with will bring something different to the table. Through ongoing relationships, we help identify areas you could add value to others. Examples include:

  • commitment to providing support to another Partner a minimum of once a year

  • sharing of contacts of introduction to relevant stakeholders

  • sharing of resources or giving access to infrastructure

  • signposting or introductions to funders

  • mentoring, friendship and professional support

Peer support: An example

Charity ‘A’ is struggling to gain more supporters through their online presence but are confident in their accounting procedures. Charity ‘B’ is struggling with their annual return but have built up a steady audience through their social media channels.

The Pearce Foundation introduce them to each other and offer them a free space to meet at our base in Hove so they can spend time together and share their skills and experience. Both charities benefit not only by learning from each other but by processing the knowledge they have in themselves (conscious competence model).
